Most of you have at one time or another heard the story
of how I came to belong to this lovely girl:
I bought her to "hold" her for a client,
but within four days I knew she'd be mine forever...
From the first moments I spent with her
I felt a special connection.
It was barely above freezing,  I couldn't feel my fingers or my toes
and I had the wrong kind of saddle,
but on our first ride she gave me this:
And so I took her home,
seven miles sitting on the back of a truck tailgate,
leading her by the side of the road
because she refused to get on the trailer...
In the years since,
Kitana has more than earned her purchase price
as a lesson horse who lets me show her from time to time,
my partner for some grueling dressage lessons,
and as my most trusted field hunter,
the only horse I've ever actually ridden to hounds.


For her birthday I gave her the one thing she has never had with me -
her own person.
And if I am a little bummed that I have to share her with him,
I  am also a little bummed that I have to share him with her!
To have two of my favorite beings so fond of each other
is all I could ask for.
Kitana turned 20 in February 2011. 
I am so honored to have had her in  my life for these nine years
and I hope for nine more.
When I bought Kitana nine years ago,
I had no idea what an impact she would have on my life,
professional and personal.
She is truly a special girl.
